New-build renewables, answered
Do I need planning permission for a heat pump?+
In most cases an air source heat pump falls under permitted development, provided it meets siting and noise conditions. For new builds and extensions it is usually designed in as part of your overall plans. We assess the specifics of your property and confirm what applies as part of the consultation.
Can you work from my architect’s drawings?+
Yes. We design directly from your architect’s or planning drawings — upload them after booking your consultation and our engineers use them to complete a room-by-room heat-loss survey and full system design.
What’s included in the consultation?+
A design-led review of your project: we assess your plans, discuss the renewable technologies that suit your build and budget, and set out a clear proposal. The consultation fee is fully refunded against your installation if you proceed.
When in my build should I involve you?+
As early as possible — ideally at the planning or design stage. Integrating the heat pump, solar, battery and underfloor design early means the most efficient, best-value result and avoids costly retrofitting later.
Can you install everything, or just the heat pump?+
We deliver the whole renewable technology stack — heat pump, solar PV, battery storage, EV charging and underfloor heating — as one coordinated, single-contractor project, or any combination you need.
Is the consultation fee really refunded?+
Yes. Like our refundable home survey, the consultation fee is credited back against the cost of your installation when you proceed with Greenmotion.
