Typical install — day by day
Most domestic installs take 2–5 days depending on complexity. A typical timeline:
- Day 1 — Protect floors and walkways, position the outdoor unit, begin pipework.
- Day 2–3 — Install the cylinder, connect emitters, complete electrical works, keeping disruption contained.
- Final day — Commissioning: filling, balancing, setting the weather-compensation curve, and testing.
We aim to keep you with heating and hot water for as much of the process as possible, and we tell you in advance about any brief interruptions.
Post-install monitoring and handover
We do not just fit and leave. At handover we walk you through your new system and controls in plain English, so you know exactly how to run it.
Then we monitor its performance remotely to confirm it is hitting its design efficiency — real SCOP data, not assumptions. If anything looks off, we can often diagnose and fine-tune it without a visit. It is how we make sure the system you paid for is the system you actually get.
What Installation Week Actually Looks Like
One of the biggest worries we hear is disruption — so here is what a typical ZeroDisrupt installation actually involves, day by day, for a standard three-bed home.
- Before the day: we have already completed the heat-loss survey and agreed the design, so there are no decisions to make mid-job and the grant paperwork is already in hand.
- Day 1: the outdoor unit is positioned and mounted, and pipework routes are prepared. Heating stays on for most of the day; we plan any brief shutdown around you.
- Day 2: the hot-water cylinder is fitted (or swapped), electrical connections and any radiator upgrades are completed.
- Day 3: the system is filled, pressure-tested, commissioned and balanced, weather compensation is set, and we walk you through the controls.
Most standard installs are complete in 2–4 days, and you are rarely without heating or hot water overnight — we sequence the work so essential services are maintained. We protect floors and work areas, clear up each day, and register the MCS certificate and grant on completion. The aim is simple: a warm, quieter, cheaper-to-run home with as little disturbance to your week as possible — which is exactly what the ZeroDisrupt approach is built around.
