Internal Wall Insulation

Insulating your home is the most cost effective way of improving it’s energy efficiency rating and reducing energy bills. With energy prices rising, insulation is becoming more and more important to prevent expensive heat loss.
SWIP Internal Wall Insulation (IWI) provides a system based approach to internal wall insulation. The system has been tested and certified to demonstrate that all components work together as designed to deliver the required performance. The SWIP IWI System is designed for upgrading existing solid (or cavity) external walls. It consists of thermally engineered composite studs and insulation slabs, which can be combined to provide greater thicknesses of high performance thermal insulation than achievable by using a single thickness.
The SWIP IWI System has been designed to simplify the process of upgrading existing solid (and cavity) masonry walls whilst delivering high levels of thermal performance.
Key Features
Features of the SWIP IWI System
SWIP IWI offers a cost-effective, thermally efficient solution. It’s easy to install, enabling you to return rooms to use as soon as possible. If you have wall imperfections or odd-shaped rooms, IWI can easily be adapted to create the perfect finish. It will also accommodate fixings for fittings such as radiators and shelving.
Thermal Performance
Your typical 225mm (nine-inch) thick uninsulated masonry external wall with dense plaster will achieve a U-Value of approximately 2.00W/m2K. The same wall insulated with the SWIP IWI system, using 95mm thick SWIP Studs, will achieve a U-Value of at least 0.30W/m2K. A thermal performance improvement of over 80%!
Benefits of the SWIP IWI System
SWIP Studs eliminate the thermal bridging issue associated with timber and metal studs systems. Compared with other Internal Insulation Methods, the SWIP IWI system components are unaffected by moisture; minimal components are required and allow you to achieve maximum thermal efficiency.
Sustainability
The SWIP IWI System incorporates Earthwool SWIP Batt glass mineral wool insulation, with the maximum A+ generic BRE Green Guide rating. We include emerging technologies based on rapidly renewable materials instead of petro-based chemicals. It is made from silica sand and recycled glass bottles, allowing you to recycle at the end of the building’s life.
